Anthropology Museum
The Anthropology Museum of Lorestan , being one of the richest ones throughout Iran ,was farmally inaugurated in May 2002 . This museum , consisting of 12 saloons and connected hallways, displays quite wonderful scenes of the native life of Lorestan,s people.

The pieces shown in this museum are mainly about such subjects as beliefs on amulets ; birth , traditional lighting ; traditional stationery ; men,s and women,s traditional clothes ; native farming tools ; local craftsmen ; local blacksmith ; a photo gallery of nature and people,s life ; scenes of wedding ceremonies ; a photo gallery of Qajar era ; traitional crafts like wood-turning , saddlery , Giveh –weaving , nickel-making; showcase of hospitality dishes ; mourning ceremony ; epitaphs ; movie and slide saloon ; a hair-spinning man; weaving some fabrics like black tent , carpet , Gelim , and jajim ; showcases of Lorestan,s textiles ; a black tent maquette ; scenes of activity by nomadic and village women ; a saloon of Lorestan ,s musics , instruments , and famous musicians ; a hunting scene ; a water- mill , and tools for baking bread .
The tools collected in the museum , being mainly scenes of people,s lives , along with their suitable arrangement , create an unforgettable memory in the mind of every visitor .

In the first saloon , the museum begins whit objects whit objects relating to birth. These objects , being in fact symbols of ancient beliefs in clued talismans , beads (locally called gezhek ) , wild rue hangings (or didi) , Karan boxes , wild goat,s beard, cock,s feathers , partridges head , and colorful beads .

Lighting tools like tallow-burners , lampas, lanterns ; traditional stationery like old books , pen-boxes, inkpots ; eyeglasses; ancients deeds and documents ; tools for passion-play and Moharram mourning ; clothed for men and women along whit arnaments which tribal women usually wear in joyous ceremonies , are among the objects exhibited in the showcases .

In other part of the Museum , a collection of farming tools and scenes are displayed . On one hand , a farmer man is seen riding on a wooden thresher (locally called Choon) and singing songs to refresh and admire his cows . On the other hand , there , s a name plowing after having sown seeds .

Next to it , a scene showing a blacksmith man , local craftsman and craftswoman , or local artificer making farming tools , manifeses another view of Lorestan native life .

Photo Gallery
Acollection of pictures of Lorestan,s nature ans people are displayed in the gallery . By watching them , one can understands the variety of natural beauties , native figures , and life in the attractive nature of the province .

Wedding Ceremony Saloon

In the wedding saloon , along with the sensational melodies of the Oboe and the kettledrum , the brides ,s riding on a decorated mare , men and women dancers around the localed musicans , the bride and the groom in a chiteja ( or a rural bridal chamber ) are all scenes which invite you to the wedding ceremony .

 

Photos of Qajar Era
In a hallway connected to the native crafts saloon , some photos , belonging to Qajar era displayed . These photos are mainly related to Lorestan,s tribes and tribal leaders , which have been taken by Tehran ,s photographer,s studio in 1839 -1840 . At present , the original copies of these photos are kept in the photo gallery of the Golestan Palace .

Hall of occupations and Bowls {i.e.Dishes)

In the vaulted sections of this hall (used as pavilions for displaying items) , there is a collection of statuettes of the masters in such traditional jobs as the old turner , artisan of bronze [or Germansilver ] items, saddler , maker of guiveh [i.e.light shoes] , and there are items such as things related to jockey ing and hunting , bowls and dishes to entertain a guest , etc . Every beholder is dazzled by the items . people visiting the Hall become familiar with a world of secrets and traditional skills that were once regarded as the high technology in Iran .

Hall of mourning
The echo of sad vocal music and the mourning melody aired in this hall , along with scenes of face ceremony [which is performed in times of mourning ] , horse adornment for mourning , humble-wearing men , women plucking their hair and scratching their cheeks, all remind you of pictures from the mourning poems of shahnameh [an epic created by ferdowsi , the great Persian poet ]. Other parts of the mourning ceremonies portray images carved on tomb stones set close to the other scenes .

Hall of Movies
A separate hall for showing movie pictures provides an opportunity for the visiters to see some manifestations of Lorestan ,s culture and history through the the audiovisual aids in the museum .

Local textiles

The rope-spinner [i.e.the man spinning wool from goat,s hair] while spinning , the tribeswomen while weaving the black [or nomatic ] ent , the napless carpet , ruy , and djajim [i.e. a kind of hand -woven textile ] are presented in three exclusive halls . skills and niceties , therefore , can be seen in the greatest details.

Hall of tribes
In the Hall , black [or nomatic] tents [ davar in the vernacular ] are portrayed . A black or nomatic tent is about 5 times smaller than a usual tent . the models on display are exactly like the nomatic habitats in the region called Hoomian Kuhdasht , and the movable articles or other things for leading a normal life witin the models are exactly similar to those in a real nomatic tent there .

In this hall , one can see how the tribeswomen have their outdoor activities with their key roles in the tribal life : a woman carrying water in a goatskin , a woman spinning threads with a spindle , a woman weaving a basket , a woman churning sour milk in a goatskin, a woman cooking food and lulling children to sleep in a special cradle , and a woman gathering firewood . there are the scenes taking place every day for women in the tribal and rural life .

Hall of Music

Lori music is an integral part to life and living , which is congenital with the Lor Nation from the genesis . the oldest songs can be traced to mournings , sad meditative songs , songs , happy or light-hearted songs , and even love songs . the Hall of Lorestan music draws the attention of any casual visitor , as it features a collection of wind instrument such as trumpet , horn , clarinet , crystal, percussion instruments such as drum , and stringed instruments such as guitar [or lute], Kaman-cheh ,[a violin-like instrument ] , especially that played by late Ali Reza Hossain Khani the master , which is on display in his hands . [the statuette of the master is on display in a window .] In the near future , the statuettes of Shamirza Moradi the master , the well-known trumpet player of Lorestan , and late Imam Gholi Imami the lute player of Kuhdasht , will be added to the collection.

Hall of Hunting
Not long ago , hunting was a means of living for the Lor people . In this hall , you can visit a scene in which a partridge is being hunted in winter , along with a Dijomah [ a colorful curtain for luring a partridge into a trap]

Hall of bread
Bread has been the sustenance for man since the ancient times to make which a variety of technologies have been at work ever since . In this hall , some of the technologies of making bread are on display : a water mill three times smaller then a real one , a hand mill such as a quern [ or a das-har or bard-glu, in the vernacular ] which is used to grind grain ; you can also see some women making bread with a pan and a roller and some other pictures relating to bread , flour, grain , and making bread .
